Description
When it comes to western imagery there are so many common subjects that come to mind: cowboys, horses, horseshoes, lassos, etc. Instead of this, we wanted to design a series of pieces that followed themes of travel that happened to be in the west. The final designs feature elements of postcards, unassuming emblems and objects found during travel, and characters and sights someone would see along the way. One focal point of these pieces is a large horizontal scene depicting an outdoor traveler's saloon. This embroidery was developed based on numerous vintage photographs of saloons throughout the west. The herringbone pants and zip jacket from this design group feature a vintage wash with elements of paint stains and discoloration commonly found on vintage coveralls, as well as grey stitching to contrast the natural base color fabric.
